The Burnley Bus Company launch is celebrated with a family fun day7 July 2017
The countdown is on to Burnley’s big free family day out of the summer, as East Lancashire’s leading bus operator throws open its doors for a very special fun and fundraising party.
The Burnley Bus Bash event will be at the Queensgate Bus Depot in Burnley, on Sunday 23 July 2017 between 10am and 4pm – and organisers are promising a packed day of family fun with something to amaze and entertain all the family, from live music and dancing to free rides through the bus wash!
Transdev is investing £4.5 million in a fleet of 30 top-of-the-range new buses for its Mainline network - the bus firm’s biggest-ever investment in Lancashire – and the first of the stunning new vehicles will take centre stage at the big Burnley event.
There’ll be live music and dancing, stalls, displays and a funfair, vintage bus rides between Burnley Bus Station and the Queensgate Bus Depot, and even a bar serving beer brewed specially for the occasion – and every penny raised will go to the bus firm’s adopted charity in 2017, Help for Heroes.
Already lined up for the big day are:
● Free vintage bus rides between Burnley Bus Station and the Queensgate Bus Depot
● Live music and dancers performing throughout the day
● Market stalls selling locally made crafts
● A bar serving a specially brewed and named beer, presented in partnership with Moorhouses’ Brewery in Burnley
● Fairground rides to keep younger visitors happy
● A display showcasing vintage vehicles alongside the latest buses to join the Transdev Burnley fleet, including one of the 30 all-new Burnley Mainline fleet packed with customer-friendly features inspired by the bus operator’s groundbreaking ‘Make My Mainline’ market research campaign
● A chance to have a go at driving a bus
● An opportunity to experience a ride through the bus wash
The event will also launch a new name in public transport for East Lancashire – The Burnley Bus Company – which will soon be a familiar sight on the area’s roads.
The Burnley Bus Company’s General Manager Steve Ottley says: “We’ve got something for all the family, from youngsters to grans and granddads – we’re really excited about the line-up for what promises to be the biggest and best family fun day in Burnley this summer!
“This great event is our way of saying thank you to the people of East Lancashire who travel with us every day.
“It’s also a chance to get up close and personal with the first of our 30 amazing new buses for our Burnley Mainline network - each packed with passenger-friendly features inspired by our far-reaching ‘Make My Mainline’ market research programme, which attracted hundreds of suggestions from our customers.
“There’ll be vintage buses to tell the story of decades of proud service to the people of Burnley and Pendle – and lots to keep the whole family entertained, from trips through the bus wash to chances to snap a selfie in the driving seat of one of our super new Burnley Mainline buses. “
Many buses and coaches which served Lancashire over the years are now in preservation, and organisers of the Burnley Bus Bash event have lined up a selection of the Red Rose County’s finest to create a display reflecting the proud past and amazing future of transport in and around the town.
