Rising star Andy in running for national awards double25 October 2018
He’s one of the bus industry’s most promising rising stars – and already Andy Turnbull is in the running for two national awards!
Andy is Service Delivery Manager at The Harrogate Bus Company, and has responsibility for ensuring dozens of buses on its network of routes across the town and beyond continue to provide a reliable and comfortable service.
Having only joined the company in September 2016. Andy has already earned a first class reputation within the bus industry as a dedicated professional – and now that work has been recognised with nominations for the Young Manager of the Year award in the UK Bus Awards, widely seen as the ‘Oscars’ of British buses.
The good news for Andy doesn’t end there – he is also among a shortlist of nominees as Rising Star 2018, a new category in the Route One Awards, aimed at identifying a young coach and bus industry professional who has not only impressed with their progress to date, but also shows clear signs of potential to rise to the top.
Andy said: “I’m delighted to be recognised in these prestigious awards – being shortlisted in one is amazing, so to be nominated in two is just incredible!
“I know how important a reliable service is to every one of our customers, and I always try to look at things through their eyes – to put the needs of our customers first. We have fantastic people in our team and of course we have great buses to work with, thanks to our relentless programme of investment in new and revitalised vehicles.
“These are exciting times on the buses in Harrogate with the arrival of Britain’s first all-electric bus fleet – it’s all part of our plan to create the country’s first Low Emission Bus Town and I’m proud to be right at the heart of it all.”
The Harrogate Bus Company CEO Alex Hornby said: “We’re fortunate to have Andy in our team – he truly is a rising star in the bus industry and just like our buses, he has an amazing future ahead.
“His dedication to delivering the highest possible quality for our customers every single day marks him out as a candidate for future leadership roles. Andy always thinks customer first and in a relatively short time with us, has made great progress in making sure we deliver a reliable, high quality service every day.”
The Route One Awards will be presented in Birmingham on 31 October, while this year’s UK Bus Awards will be given in London on 20 November.
