Transdev's pioneering 'VAMOOZ - go where you choose' brand expands to four new regions of Britain12 June 2018
VAMOOZ, the unique app-based travel service pioneered in the North of England by Transdev Blazefield, is to expand into four new areas of Britain for the first time.
Partnership deals have been reached with bus operator First Kernow, covering Somerset and Cornwall – with coach operators Marshalls of Sutton-on-Trent, who operate across Newark and north Nottinghamshire, CT Plus in South and West Yorkshire and Wheelers Travel in Southampton.
GET ON BOARD WITH VAMOOZ … the app-based crowdfunded bus service is coming to three new areas of Britain, including for the first time a partnership between its creators Transdev Blazefield and another UK bus operating group
The deal with First to bring VAMOOZ to the South West is the first time such a partnership has been agreed between Transdev Blazefield and another major UK bus operating group – making it a significant milestone in the VAMOOZ mission to reach much of the country.
From its original roots in Yorkshire and Lancashire, VAMOOZ has steadily continued its programme of expansion over the last 18 months, reaching Berkshire, Merseyside, the West Midlands, and most recently, Teesside.
Transdev Blazefield CEO Alex Hornby is helping to lead the growth of VAMOOZ at Transdev Blazefield’s base in Harrogate.
Alex says: “One of the great things about VAMOOZ is that the original ideas behind it can deliver exciting results for large and small operators up and down the country, as we all look for new revenue streams to support our businesses.
“Ultimately our aim is to find as many new opportunities for new routes designed by users up and down the country by reaching agreement with ambitious companies through this operator to operator partnership approach. Interest is especially strong among coach operators who can see how the VAMOOZ app can help them to access new markets and make better utilisation of their fleets and people.
“The growing VAMOOZ network involves school travel, home to work buses as well as trips to events and days out. The crowdfunding and demand-led principles behind VAMOOZ continue to open up new opportunities. We’re delighted to forge new partnerships in the East Midlands, South Yorkshire, South Coast and South West as VAMOOZ goes from strength to strength.”
VAMOOZ was first launched by Transdev Blazefield early last year, and the operator experienced rapid growth with the original concept successfully extended to offer bespoke school and college services in North Yorkshire and East Lancashire. The first partnership taking VAMOOZ outside the Transdev group was formed in summer 2017 with Reading Buses in Berkshire introducing its own VAMOOZ services under a licence arrangement.
At the heart of the VAMOOZ concept is its free to download app, built for ease of use, which offers customers a one-stop shop for browsing trips, suggesting destinations and buying mobile tickets. VAMOOZ won a Bronze Award in the 2017 UK Bus Awards, in the New Horizons category and was a Finalist in the Technology category at the Route One Operator Excellence Awards.
